What a difference a year makes. 

I just realized I contacted Deuce Brand, an athletic gear company based in SoCal, on Twitter exactly one year ago today. I’ve always wanted to recount what happened.

A year ago, I (jokingly and with no expectations) reached out to Deuce Brand about making a special edition version of their watch for Syracuse University. 

I never expected a response, let alone a direct message within a few hours of my initial tweet:

I quickly sent them a link to the licensing office at Syracuse:

Within a few days, they already made progress:

Before I even knew it, Deuce Brand sent me a free watch in December:

I wore the watch to the Georgetown vs. Syracuse game in The Dome on February 08 and sent Deuce Brand a picture with their customary “deuces” sign:

I thought this was as good as it could get.

Until I walked through the campus bookstore in May:

This is why I love Twitter and social media.

I’m grateful for Deuce Brand’s service and have an incredible amount of respect for the company. 

It’s amazing to see what a simple tweet can do.
